Strong clinical leadership at Pegasus Health ensures that the design and delivery of our programmes, functions, and tools is safe, best for patient, and best for the system. Our clinical leadership provides guidance on effective implementation of national policy, continuous improvement, and the development of local policy, approaches, and services in the primary health system. It ensures what we do is ethical and free from commercial bias.

Pegasus Health Leadership Diagram

Good clinical leadership is fundamental to Pegasus’ ability to deliver on its purpose and role in the Waitaha Canterbury and Aotearoa New Zealand health system.  It also supports Pegasus’ contribution to national and regional clinical governance.  A strong partnership between clinical and organisational leadership at Pegasus is essential for clinical leadership to be effective and have the appropriate impact on Pegasus’ strategy, priorities and delivery.

Clinical Quality Leadership Board (CQAB)

The Clinical Quality Advisory Board (CQAB) is Pegasus Health’s highest level clinical governance body. Its purpose is to lead Pegasus’ ongoing development of a culture and systems where quality, safety and equity of outcomes are everybody’s primary goal.

To do this, the CQAB oversees and advises on matters pertaining to clinical quality for Pegasus Health delivered health services and the Pegasus Primary Care network. Central to this approach is providing evidence-informed services that are clinically led, free from commercial bias and focused on achieving equitable health outcomes.

Population Health Advisory Board (PHAB)

This board was established by Pegasus Health to support the organisation to ensure that the people of Canterbury receive quality, coordinated care that is easy to access and community based. PHAB aims to support all population groups to achieve optimum health outcomes and reduce disparities.
