Education

The Pegasus Health Clinical Quality and Education (CQE) team develop, manage and deliver education for primary health professionals.

The CQE team consists of experienced registered health professionals, most of whom also work in clinical practice. They are skilled in literature searching, critical appraisal, and interpreting and presenting information as evidence informed educational material. The team develop all the material in-house working with relevant experts and local data sets, to ensure materials are relevant and focused on driving behaviour change in practice.

Education is delivered through Te Rau Ako, Clinical Connect – Peer Education Programme, workshops and webinars, and education bulletins.

Clinical Connect – Peer Education Programme

The Clinical Connect – Peer Education Programme offers ongoing education for health professionals, focusing on best practices and efficient use of health resources in the primary health sector. Initially developed for general practitioners, the programme now includes nurse practitioners, practice nurses and community pharmacists.

Bulletins

Bulletins are produced throughout the year and cover areas such as new medicines, diagnostics and testing, processes of care, updates, and changes. The team may also distribute a bulletin to summarise recent education. These post-topic bulletins reiterate the points made during the meeting and address any comments and feedback received from attendees.

Other education opportunities

These come in a range of formats such as in-person Large Group meetings, and webinars and are generally facilitated by secondary care colleagues or outside presenters. The format and size of these meetings necessitate a more didactic lecture style, and cover topics appropriate for any combination of the following professional groups:

  • General practitioners
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Registered nurses
  • Community pharmacists.

Topics which aren’t suitable for a Large Group/webinar format may be offered as workshops or skills-based training and the format is determined by the topic and size of the target audience.

Email the Clinical Quality and Education team to find out more about collaborating with the Clinical Quality and Education team to offer education.
