Workforce Development Scholarship
Applications for the Pegasus Health Workforce Development Scholarships are now closed for 2024. Students who identify as Māori, Pacific or from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, studying medicine, nursing or allied health are eligible to apply in 2025.
Background
Pegasus has for many years recognised that developing our workforce is vital to improving the health status of the populations in the communities in which we serve. Since 2001 when these scholarships were first established, numerous aspiring recipients have been assisted, many of whom have gone on to outstanding careers in primary health care.
In 2023, a total of 15 scholarships were granted.

Students in Over Summer Programme
Each year, Pegasus welcomes a group of five interns through the Students in Over Summer Programme, in an effort to enhance our pool of knowledge and offer fresh perspectives on equitable health in primary health.
The 2023 intake included nursing and counseling students, who gained hands-on experience across various Pegasus teams.
Zaria Grant chose to express her journey and insights from her time at Pegasus through poetry. Her poem captures her experiences and the impact of the programme on her understanding of equitable healthcare. We are honoured to present her words, read her poem.
Hui Tapuhi Māori - Māori nurses/midwives meeting
If you are a nurse or midwife who identifies as Māori and are working anywhere within our healthcare system (Waitaha or Te Tai o Poutini), then this rōpū (group) may be for you. The kaupapa of the group is all about whakawhanaungatanga (connection). To get to know who else is out there and to be there as a support and resource for each other.
Please contact Kylie.Clark@cdhb.health.nz if you would like to come along or if you have any questions.
