MEDIA RELEASE
Friday 1 December 2023

24 Hour Surgery is extending its opening hours as it moves towards a return to normal operating.

From Sunday 3 December 2023 the hours will be:

  • Sunday 8.00am-midnight
  • Monday midnight -midnight/24 hours
  • Tuesday midnight – 10.00pm
  • Wednesday – Saturday   8.00am to 10.00pm

This will see 24 Hour Surgery open from 8.00am on Sunday until Tuesday at 10.00pm.

“We have had a successful recruitment campaign. As our newly recruited nurses complete their onboarding, we are pleased to be able to staff limited overnight shifts,” 24 Hour Surgery Clinical Director, Jasmine Mackay said.

“We have chosen to increase our hours based on the times when the 24 Hour Surgery and the emergency department are typically busiest.”

“We are aiming to progressively extend the number of nights we are open until we resume normal operating early next year,” she said.

“We are taking a considered approach and ask for continued patience and support as unseen events, such a sickness among staff, could see temporary reductions in those hours, as we move forward.”

Please note that from Sunday 24 December to Wednesday 3 January, 24 Hour surgery will not be opening overnight. Opening hours during this period will be 8.00am to 10.00pm each day.
